I have been much occupied in other pursuits but my thirst to experiment and try new recipes still lives.  This recipe was born out of trying a new recipe and loving the strong flavor of the seasonings more than diffusing it more.  This dish is a bit of comfort. I eat this with a side of broccoli and it is simply delicious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just make the rice separately  dab with plant-based butter.  Be sure to eat slowly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Paprika Herb Chik&#8217;n and Rice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ingredients<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>4\u20135 hearty plant-based chicken substitute pieces<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bd medium onion, finely diced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 cloves garlic, minced<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons butter<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1\u00bd tablespoons olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00bc cup no-chicken broth or stock<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 tablespoons dried thyme or 1\/4 teaspoon powered thyme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 tablespoon dried oregano<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>2 teaspoons sweet paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon smoked paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>1 teaspoon salt, or to taste<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooked rice<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional butter for the rice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Instructions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1: Prepare the Seasoning Blend<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a small bowl, combine:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Dried thyme<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dried oregano<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sweet paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Smoked paprika<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Salt<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Mix well until evenly combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2: Season the Plant-Based Chicken<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the chicken subtitute pieces in a medium bowl.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sprinkle the seasoning blend over the chicken substitute and toss until all pieces are evenly coated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3: Saut\u00e9 the Aromatics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heat a large skillet over medium heat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Olive oil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Butter<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the butter has melted, add the diced onion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cook for 4\u20135 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and translucent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring constantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4: Sear the Plant-Based Chicken<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Add the seasoned chicken substitute to the skillet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cook for 5\u20137 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and heated through.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The seasonings should become fragrant and coat the chicken substitute evenly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 5: Make the Pan Gravy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pour broth over the seared chicken substitute in the skillet and let simmer for 2\u20133 minutes, or until the broth reduces slightly and forms a light gravy. If you want a little gravy, pour less broth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 6: Prepare the Buttered Rice<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cook the rice in a separate pot according to directions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once cooked, let set for 10 minutes before opening. After time elaspses, add butter and fluff until melted and evenly distributed throughout the rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 7: Serve<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spoon the buttered rice onto serving plates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Place the plant-based chicken on top of the rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Drizzle or spoon the pan gravy over the chicken and rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serve immediately with a side of your choice..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Yield:<\/strong> 2 servings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s been a minute since I posted on my blog.
